Bulacan commemorates 117th anniversary of Malolos Republic

MALOLOS, Philippines – Bulakenyos commemorated the 117th anniversary of the Malolos Republic in simple ceremonies held at the Barasoain Church yesterday.

National Historical Commission of the Philippines executive director Ludovico Badoy, Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino Sy Alvarado, Malolos City Mayor Christian Natividad and former Technical Education Skills and Development Authority director general Joel Villanueva attended the event.

Alvarado said the day the Malolos Republic was formed was the day the country became a free nation. He lamented that many Filipinos have forgotten its significance.

The theme of this year’s activity is “Diwa ng Republika Filipina, Batayan ng Mabuting Pamamahala.”
