BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Parts of Benguet, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija will experience power interruptions today.

Some 45,000 residential and commercial consumers here and in the towns of Trinidad and Tublay will have no electricity for 12 hours, according to the Benguet Electric Cooperative (Beneco).

Beneco said the power interruption would allow maintenance work, including the energization of its new 50-megavolt ampere transformer and the upgrading of its primary poles.

In an advisory released yesterday, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said the towns of San Manuel, Moncada, Paniqui, Anao, Gerona, Ramos, Pura, Sta. Ignacia, Victoria, San Clemente, Mayantoc, Camiling and San Jose in Tarlac would experience a nine-hour power outage.

The towns of Nampicuan and Cuyapo in Nueva Ecija will have no power from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The?NGCP said the power outage would facilitate the annual preventive maintenance and testing of power equipment at the Concepcion substation and maintenance work along the Concepcion-Camiling 69-kiloVolt line. – Artemio Dumlao, Ding Cervantes
