P.5-M marijuana seized in Ilocos Sur

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union, Philippines – Police arrested a man for possession of a sack of marijuana with an estimated street value of P500,000 in Alilem town in Ilocos Sur yesterday.

Rolando Kios, 23, of Barangay Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet was caught carrying 15 rolls and five bricks of marijuana at a checkpoint on Brown street, according to Ilocos police director Chief Superintendent Ericson Velasquez.

Before Kios’ arrest, police received a tip that a man on board a jeepney would transport marijuana in Alilem, town police chief Senior Inspector Joel Lagto said.

Velazquez said the local police put up a checkpoint and intercepted the jeepney carrying the marijuana and the suspect.
