Lawyer hurt in gun attack

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A lawyer was wounded in an attack by motorcycle-riding men in Lipa City, Batangas yesterday morning.

Socrates Hermoso was taken to the Mediatrix Medical Center for treatment of gunshot wounds in the body, according to city police chief Superintendent Bernand Dasugo.

Hermoso’s wife, whose name was withheld, was not hurt in the incident that occurred at around 10:20 a.m. near their house in Villa Monico Subdivision, Barangay Lodiod.

The Hermosos had just arrived from the market and were about to enter the gate of their house when the gunmen shot at them.

Dasugo said probers were eyeing work and personal grudge as among the motives for the attack.

He said the lawyer is handling several drug cases.

Police said they would request copies of video footage taken by the closed-circuit television cameras installed in the area for possible identification of the assailants.
