ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – The Naval Forces Western Mindanao has a new commander.

Commodore Jorge Amba replaced Vice Rear Admiral Premitivo Gopo, who reaches the mandatory age of retirement today.

Navy chief Vice Admiral Caesar Taccad installed Amba, a member of Philippine Military Academy class ‘85, during ceremonies held at the Romulo Espaldon Naval Base in Barangay Calarian here.

Taccad cited Gopo for his role in the campaign against the Abu Sayyaf in Basilan and Sulu as commander of Joint Task Force ZamBaSulTa.

Amba, for his part, vowed to continue Gopo’s program.

Meanwhile, Chief Superintendent Rolando Felix replaced Chief Superintendent Vert Tinio Chavez as chief of the Police Regional Office in the Caraga region.
