3 Calabarzon police chiefs replaced

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – The police directors in this province and in Quezon and Rizal were replaced yesterday as part of the Philippine National Police (PNP)’s preparations for the May elections.

Laguna police director Senior Superintendent Florendo Saligao was replaced by Senior Superintendent Ronnie Montejo, and Quezon police director Senior Superintendent Ronaldo Ylagan by Senior Superintendent Eugenio Paguirigan.

Rizal police director Senior Superintendent Bernabe Balba was replaced by Senior Superintendent Adriano Tenong Jr.

Superintendent Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson for the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), said Ylagan has finished the two-year tenure for provincial directors as provided by the PNP and the National Police Commission (Napolcom).

The replacements of Saligao and Balba, who each served as acting provincial director for a year, were part of the PNP and Napolcom’s career development plans for officials.

Saligao is undergoing schooling for career advancement.

Gaoiran said the reshuffle was part of the PNP’s preparations for the May elections, noting the transfer of police officers and civil service employees is no longer allowed during the election period.

She did not reveal the new assignments of the officials.
