Roel Pareño, Jaime Laude - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A vacationing Philippine Air Force enlisted man was shot dead by suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits in his hometown in Jolo, Sulu on Friday.

Airman First Class Andrew Nono, 27, of Barangay San Raymundo, died as he was being taken to the Sulu Provincial Hospital, according to Brig. Gen. Alan Arrojado, chief of the military’s Joint Task Group Sulu.

“The killing could be a retaliatory attack by the  Abu Sayyaf’s urban terrorist group for the offensives launched by the military against them,” Arrojado said.
