Girl, 5, drowns in irrigation canal

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A five-year-old girl drowned when she fell from the bridge of an irrigation canal in Barangay Napaccu Grande in Reina Mercedes, Isabela on Tuesday. ?

The body of Michelle de la Cruz was found floating in the irrigation canal before noon, said Senior Inspector Raoul Mena, Reina Mercedes deputy police chief.

Mena said the mother of the victim was not aware that her daughter followed her when she went out to buy pan de sal for breakfast.
