Boy, 9, scolded, hangs self

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – A nine-year-old boy reportedly hanged himself after his foster mother scolded him for stealing a cellphone in Dumangas, Iloilo on Monday.

The boy was found hanging in the toilet of their house in Barangay Dacutan. A nylon cord was tied around his neck.

The foster mother told police she warned the boy he would be returned to his biological parents should he steal again.

The boy’s parents are residing in Guimaras province.

Jimenez said the boy stole their neighbor’s phone two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, a 10-year-old boy reportedly tried to kill himself after his siblings teased him for being an adopted child.

The boy was taken to a hospital in Iloilo City after he drank water laced with pesticide.
