Eastern Visayas farmers get P72-M farm equipment

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has turned over P72 million worth of farm equipment to 100 farmers’ organizations in Eastern Visayas.

DAR Undersecretary for support services Rosalina Bistoyong said the equipment included 86 hand tractors, 58 rice threshers, 17 floating tillers, 12 rice reapers and 11 tractors.

“With the CSFs (common service facilities) and intensive training from various professional service providers, the government is expecting an improvement in farmers’ quality of life,” Bistoyong said.

DAR regional director Sheila Enciso said some farmer organizations received more than one piece of equipment.
