Makati all set for New Year’s Eve countdown
MANILA, Philippines — Makati City is all set for "Shout," its New Year’s Eve countdown to be held at the University of Makati's track and field oval.
The Makati City government said the event will start at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015 until 3 a.m. of the following day on Jan. 1, 2016.
According to the city government, residents and guests to the event will be welcomed by food concessionaires, selling booths, and street magicians.
The opening program will begin at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., to be hosted by DJ Chacha of MOR 101.9 and stand-up comedian and dzMM TeleRadyo host Ahwel Paz.
DJ Nicole Hyala and actor Robi Domingo will take over to host the main program starting at 8 p.m. until 11:50 p.m., featuring top performers for different audience segments.
An assortment of singers, top bands and DJs who will also be performing for the crowd.
The Makati New Year's Eve Countdown 2016 performers include Bamboo, The Dawn, Gloc-9, Kyla, KZ Tandingan and Ella Cruz.
A 15-minute grand fireworks display will immediately follow the midnight countdown. Meanwhile, the after-party will be filled with music by the country's premier DJs, such as DJ Ace Ramos with MC Pao and DJ X-factor. The party will wrap up at around 3 a.m. on January 1.
For security and safety, the event is strictly off-limits to pregnant women, those who are sick, and children below three feet tall. Pets, weapons like guns and other sharp objects, any kind of food and drinks including those in PET bottles are likewise prohibited. Wearing slippers or high-heeled shoes, carrying large backpacks, and smoking are also not allowed.
The Makati government said the city did not hold the New Year's Eve countdown for the past two years after the city government's decision to sympathize with the victims of typhoons "Yolanda" and "Ruby."
