PCG: Passengers stranded in ports due to ‘Onyok’ down to 479
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Sunday morning reported that the number of passengers stranded in various ports due to low pressure “Onyok,” formerly a tropical depression, decreased.
From 2,949 passengers stranded on Saturday morning to 692 to 436 at 4 p.m. of Saturday, the number of passengers stranded in ports nationwide lowered to 479.
Those stranded include 13 vessels and 2 motor bancas.
According to a PCG report, most of the passengers and sea vehicles were stranded in Palawan and Eastern Visayas
Meanwhile, the weather bureau on Sunday issued gale warning due to the rough to very rough sea condition expected in the northern, eastern and western seaboards of Luzon and the eastern seaboards of the Visayas.
The The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration advised the fisherfolks to not venture their fishing boats and other small seacraft into the sea while the larger sea vessels are warned of the big waves.
