Village chief nabbed in raid

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – A barangay chairman was arrested and several high-powered firearms and ammunition were confiscated in a raid on his house in Cavite on Thursday.

The raid on the house of Dennis John Bautista, 42, was part of the campaign of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to account for loose firearms in preparation for the 2016 elections, said Senior Superintendent Ronald Lee, head of the CIDG in Metro Manila.

Lee said Bautista, chairman of Barangay Medicion 2-C in Imus, failed to show documents supporting ownership of the firearms.

Bautista, who was held at the CIDG office at Camp Crame, will be charged with illegal possession of firearms, explosives and ammunition.
