Wanted Abu bandit nabbed in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A suspected Abu Sayyaf bandit was arrested by a joint team of police and the military in this city on Saturday afternoon.

Basir Kadir Juljani, alias Abu Omar, has been wanted for kidnapping cases more than 14 years ago in Basilan, according to Inspector Elmer Solo, city police Station 3 chief.

Juljani was collared at about 5:30 p.m. in Barangay Sangali by members of the intelligence service of the regional police office and Philippine Air Force.

Solo said the suspect has a standing arrest warrant issued by Basilan Judge Leo Jay Principe for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.

The cases against Juljani stemmed from his participation in the kidnapping of seven farmers in Barangay Tairan, Lantawan in 2001.
