Abu Sayyaf bomb courier nabbed

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines –  A suspected bomb courier of the Abu Sayyaf  was arrested in Sulu on Monday night.

Makin Mukan, 41, a resident of Barangay Kabuntaka in Patikul town was collared by members of the 35th Infantry Battalion at a checkpoint in Barangay Latih at 8:40 p.m., said Brig. Gen. Alan Arrojado, commander of Joint Task Group Sulu.

Arrojado said at least six rounds of ammunition for a 40 mm grenade launcher were seized from the suspect. 

He said they have received  information the ammunition would be delivered to the Abu Sayyaf lair in Patikul.

Mukan was turned over to the Patikul police for the filing of charges.

Arrojado said an investigation is underway to determine the source of the ammunition. – With Jaime Laude
