CANDELARIA, Quezon, Philippines – A businessman was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in this town on Wednesday night.

Gerry Pondevida, 40, of Lanite Street, Barangay Pahinga Norte, was having a drinking with some friends in Saint Peter Subdivision when he was killed, according to town police chief  Superintendent Arturo Brual Jr.

Pondevida was declared dead on arrival at the St. Peter Medical Center.

Witnesses described the gunman to be at least 5’7” tall.

Investigators recovered five bullet shells for a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Police have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
