Valenzuela fire damage pegged at P1M

About P500,000 to 1 million worth of scrap were burned from the fire the reached fourth alarm in Valenzuela City.

MANILA, Philippines – A fire that broke out in a warehouse-junk shop in Valenzuela City early Wednesday morning caused an estimated damage worth P500,000 to 1 million.

According to radio reports, the fire started at the warehouse-junk shop on Candido Street, Barangay Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela City around 6 a.m. when a worker at the shop heard the sound of objects falling from the mezzanine and saw that the shop was on fire.

Initially, the reports said a rubber factory was on fire as the warehouse-junk shop also contained scrap rubber.

The reports said the estimated cost of scrap damaged ranges from P500,000 to 1 million since most of the junk shop’s inventory including scrap wood, steel and rubber were burned.

Firemen quickly responded to the fire that reached fourth alarm until it was declared under control at 7:36 a.m.

Fire Marshall Superintendent Jonas Silvano of the Valenzuela Fire Department said that authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire which may be linked to a possible electricity or power supply fault.
