Cop nabbed in La Union drug raid
CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union, Philippines – A police officer was among 59 persons arrested in simultaneous anti-crime raids in this province on Monday.
Police Officer 1 Menard Randy Miranda, 25, of the Bauang police station, was arrested in a raid on the house of his friend Dexter Pascua in Barangay Central West, according to provincial police director Senior Superintendent Angelito Dumangeng.
Dumangeng said Miranda was caught by members of the raiding team hiding illegal drugs in a chicken coop.
The raiding team reportedly seized from Miranda three plastic sachets said to contain illegal drugs.
Pascua reportedly also yielded another three plastic sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and bullets.
Dumangeng said the raids resulted in the arrest of 58 more individuals for involvement in various crimes.
