Woman raped, killed in Laguna apartment

LAGUNA, Philippines – A woman was raped and killed in her apartment, while a six-year-old girl was molested in separate incidents in Sta. Rosa City in this province on Monday.

The 27-year-old woman was found half-naked in her room at M.L. Young apartment in San Isidro Subdivision, Barangay Macabling, according to city police chief Superintendent Reynaldo Maclang.

Roy Camarillo, medico-legal officer of the scene of the crime office, confirmed the victim was raped and died of asphyxiation.

Camarillo said the woman, who was said to be a production operator of a Japanese company at the Laguna Technopark, could have been killed on Sunday night.

Police said the woman’s room was in disarray but none of her things was missing.

Maclang said the killer could have entered and left through the window of the toilet.

Meanwhile, the six-year-old girl was found in a grassy area in Barangay Balibago at around 6 a.m.

Leila Bondoc of the Balibago Polyclinic said the girl was sexually abused.

Maclang said a tricycle driver, identified as Marcos Amalin was arrested after the victim identified him in the rogue’s gallery of the city police.

Reports said the girl was last seen playing with her cousin on Sunday afternoon when she disappeared.
