Batangas police chief replaced

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – The chief of the Batangas provincial police office has been replaced after serving more than two years at his post.

Senior Superintendent Jireh Omega Fidel was replaced on Friday by Senior Superintendent Arcadio Lescano Ronquillo Jr., formerly chief of the Logistics Division of the National Capitol Region Police Office.

Inspector Hazel Luma-Ang, spokesperson for the Batangas police, said Fidel’s replacement was based on a memorandum circular of the Philippine National Police and the National Police Commission, which limits the tenure of provincial police directors to two years.

Ronquillo vowed to continue Fidel’s program in fighting crimes and the resolution of high-profile cases.

Earlier, six chiefs of police in the province have been relieved from their posts for failing to arrest fugitives in their jurisdiction.
