Student stabbed dead by neighbor
LAGUNA, Philippines – A graduating criminology student was killed, while his friend was wounded when a neighbor stabbed them during a quarrel in Los Baños City in this province yesterday morning.
John Russel Potes died while being treated at the Health Service Hospital, according to city police chief Superintendent Romeo Desiderio.
Pontes’ friend, Michael Alforja, 25, was also taken to the same hospital for treatment of stab wounds in the leg.
Responding police officers arrested the suspect, identified as Rey Avila Jr., 20.
Witnesses told investigators that Potes asked Avila if he had seen his cousin named Puten.
A quarrel reportedly broke out between Avila and Potes, prompting the suspect to pull out a knife and stab the victim.
Alforja tried to help Potes, but he too was attacked by the suspect.
