3 Sultan Kudarat town execs dismissed
MANILA, Philippines - The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the dismissal of three municipal officials of Sultan Kudarat over the illegal disbursement of public funds five years ago.
Palimbang town treasurer Francis Nadar, accountant Zaida Apil and budget officer Pukog Makakua were found guilty of grave misconduct.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales also ordered the three officials barred from holding public office and their retirement benefits forfeited.
Investigation showed the three officials were behind the issuance of seven checks worth P13 million to Nadar.
Morales said the issuance of the checks was highly irregular, noting that fund withdrawals require certifications from the local budget officer, accountant, treasurer and department head.
She said Nadar, Apil and Makakua should have complied with the documentary requirements and rendered their accounts in accordance with the regulations prescribed by the Commission on Audit.
