MANILA, Philippines – A traffic enforcer of the Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety (QC-DPOS) was allegedly shot dead by a bank security guard during the clearing operations of Mabuhay Lanes on Wednesday morning, according to reports.

The 60-year-old victim identified by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) as Enrique Fresnido, was allegedly shot dead by a bank security guard identified as Alex Batacan, after Fresnido attempted to confiscate the motorcycle of Batacan as part of the clearing operations along Mabuhay Lane in West Avenue, Quezon City.

Batacan stopped the confiscation of his motorcycle but Fresnido persisted which prompted Batacan to point his .38 calibre gun and shoot Fresnido’s head.

Reports said other members of the QC-DPOS were conducting the clearing operations when the incident happened.

Based on the initial investigation, Batacan’s motorcycle was found along West Avenue at 8 a.m. He was arrested by the authorities and detained at the Quezon City Police District Station 2.

Meanwhile, traffic enforcer Fresnido was brought to the Quezon City General Hospital where was declared dead around 10:25 a.m. from a gunshot wound in the head according to doctor Lim Juico.
