Quake jolts Luzon, Metro Manila
MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude-5.7 earthquake rattled parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila yesterday morning, state seismologists said.
The quake occurred at 3:40 a.m., with its epicenter located some 55 kilometers northwest of Bolinao, Pangasinan, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
It was felt at Intensity 4 in Bolinao and Intensity 3 in Dagupan City, also in Pangasinan, and in Vigan City, Burgos, Santa Maria, San Esteban, Santa and Narvacan, all in Ilocos Sur.
The quake was felt at Intensity 2 in Baguio City; San Clemente in Tarlac; Guagua, Angeles and Mabalacat City, all in Pampanga; Sinait in Ilocos Sur, and Iba in Zambales.
Intensity 1 was felt in Manila, Muntinlupa, Pasay, Pasig, Marikina, and Makati; San Jose in Nueva Ecija, and Santiago City in Isabela.
Phivolcs said no damage was expected, but aftershocks could be felt in areas near the quake’s epicenter.
