Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – More than 4,000 policemen were deployed in the Calabarzon region as part of security preparations for the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.

Chief Superintendent Richard Albano, Calabarzon police director, ordered the region’s directors and chiefs of police to put up  police assistance desks at the entrance of cemeteries and to deploy foot patrol.

Superintendent Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesman for the Calabarzon police, said the police would strictly enforce the ban on carrying of firearms, bladed weapons, liquor and other illegal items in cemeteries.

“We will assign police officers to watch the vital installations, local and foreign-owned businesses, tourist destinations and key economic assets, and intensify target hardening measures at places of convergence,” Gaoiran said.

Albano said road safety marshals would also be deployed in strategic areas.
