6 dead in Quezon, Batangas road mishaps
CAMP GUILLERMO NAKAR, Lucena City, Philippines – Six persons were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Quezon and Batangas on Wednesday and Thursday night.
Among the fatalities were retired policeman Alberto Cantos, 57, and his companion Clemente Capalaran, 53.
Superintendent Arturo Brual Jr., Candelaria town police chief, said the victims were in a Kia Rio (WRE-726) on the northbound lane of Dalahican Road when it collided with a DLTB passenger bus with body number 1227.
In Lucena City, two passengers were killed and three others injured when their tricycle rammed into a Philtranco Bus (ABG- 7601) driven by Romeo Manrique.
Joan Roxas, 37, and a certain Glo, 65, were pronounced dead on arrival at the MMG Hospital. Tricycle driver Ariel Cabrera, 31, Geremias Roa, 35, and Gen Manasterial, 33, suffered multiple body injuries.
In Batangas, a woman and her grandson were killed while a 13-year-old boy was hurt when a wayward truck rammed their house in Cuenca town Wednesday morning.
Inocencia Lopez, 78, died at the scene while Tristan Galicha, nine-month-old, died while being treated at the Lipa Medix Hospital. Jose Galicha remains confined in the same hospital.
Police said the Isuzu Elf truck (TMP-466) driven by Romualdo del Mundo was traveling along the national road in Barangay Emmanuel when its brakes malfunctioned.
Del Mundo is being held at the Cuenca police station while charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and physical injuries are being readied against him.
