TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Thirty-seven people suffered serious injuries in a road accident along the national highway in Barangay Tupang in Alcala, Cagayan on Tuesday.

Police said the accident occurred when a passenger jeepney rolled over after one of its tires burst.

Most of the passengers were students and teachers of the Santo Angel dela Guardia School in Tuao town. They were supposed to attend an athletic meet in Aparri.

Authorities are considering filing charges against the organizers of the trip, noting that some of the students were seated on the roof of the jeepney.
