2 brothers charged for doctor’s murder
MANILA, Philippines - Police filed yesterday murder and qualified theft charges against two teenage brothers for the killing of a pediatrician whose body they dumped in a septic tank in San Mateo, Rizal.
The suspects, 19 and 13 years old, were charged before the Rizal prosecutor’s office for allegedly killing Jesus Comedida, 60.
The two reportedly admitted killing the doctor, whom they claimed abused them.
The elder brother was earlier reported to be 17 years old.
The suspects were arrested in their hometown in Monreal, Masbate on Saturday by members of the San Mateo and the provincial police offices.
They were traced through a report card submitted to a school in San Mateo, where the elder brother was a Grade 7 student.
The suspects denied taking anything from the doctor, whose two laptop computers and phones were reported missing.
The victim was found in the septic tank of his residence in Bancom Subdivision, Barangay Gulod Malaya on Oct. 18.
Town police chief Superintendent Ruben Piquero said the elder suspect is detained at the municipal police detention center while his brother was turned over to the social welfare office.
