Cop shot dead

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines  – Unidentified armed men shot dead a police officer on his way home from the wake of his uncle in Salcedo, Ilocos Sur late on Friday.

Police Officer 1 Reynaldo Daciego, a member of the municipal police, died at the scene from gunshots to the head and neck, according to Ilocos Sur police director Senior Superintendent Nestor Felix.

Investigation showed Daciego was walking home in Barangay Poblacion Norte when the assailants waylaid him.
