Rob suspect killed in shootout
LAGUNA, Philippines – A suspected robber was killed after he engaged responding police officers in a shootout in Sta. Rosa City in this province on Saturday.
Police have yet to identify the suspect, who took the phone of a woman in Barangay Tagapo, city police chief Superintendent Reynaldo Maclang said.
The suspect, who died at the scene, was identified by Roselyn Dultran, 19, as the man who took her phone.
Maclang said the suspect entered Dultran’s house at around 6:35 a.m., stole her phone and fled on foot.
The victim managed to seek help from neighbors, who called the police.
The suspect reportedly pulled out a gun and shot at the responding police officers, triggering a firefight.
Police recovered from the slain suspect a .38 caliber revolver, Dultran’s phone and a bonnet.
