Air Force rescues men from raging Isabela river

MANILA, Philippines – A Philippine Air Force (PAF) unit on Sunday rescued trapped civilians from a raging river and delivered food assistance in Isabela province.

PAF spokesperson Col. Enrico Canaya said the five unnamed males were rescued from the the rampaging river at Barangay Yeban Norte, Benito Soliven, Isabela at 10 a.m. Sunday.

 

 

The Air Force personnel were responding to a call from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), Isabela.

The Tactical Operations Group 2 stationed in Cauayan, Isabela and headed by Lt. Julius Samson sent its rescue team composed of eight PAF soldiers to respond to the call for help. Maj. Marcelino Jesus Cabusas led the eight soldiers.

The rescue team also gave immediate medical assistance to a wounded 30-year-old flood victim in coordination with incident commander Barbie Barbosa of PDRRMC, Isabela.

After rescuing the five civilians, the team also distributed at least 18 sacks of relief goods to 129 families affected by Typhoon “Lando” from Yeban Norte to sitios Turod and Raked, Isabela via rubber boat.
