Cold front to bring rains over North Luzon

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday said Northern Luzon will experience rains in the next two to three days due to tail-end of a cold front.

PAGASA forecaster Buddy Javier said the tail-end of a cold front or the front boundary of two air masses, which produces clouds and rains, is affecting extreme Northern Luzon. Due to this, Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.

On the other hand, most parts of the country including Metro Manila will continue to experience fair weather or partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms over the next three days.

Javier said the weather bureau did not detect any weather disturbance near the Philippine Area of Responsibility except for a cloud cluster in the Pacific Ocean.

The weather forecaster noted that the Philippines is undergoing transition period as the wind flow will shift from the southwest monsoon to the cold weather-associated northeast monsoon this month.

PAGASA said the extreme Northern Luzon and coastal waters will experience moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast and moderate to rough waters.

PAGASA issued a gale warning due to the strong to gale force winds associated with northeasterly surface wind flow. It causes rough to very rough sea condition expected to affect the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon.

"Fishing boats and other small sea crafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” the advisory said.
