MANILA, Philippines — Authorities nabbed a suspected drug dealer during a sting operation in Dumaguete City, seizing around P3 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Thursday.

PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Josephine Cabasag, 46, of Crossing Taclobo, Taclobo, Dumaguete City.

Belated reports showed that on September 21, PDEA and other law enforcement agencies, including the National Bureau of Investigation, staged a buy-bust operation in Purok Kalubihan, Daro, Dumaguete City which resulted in the arrest of Cabasag.

The suspect sold to an undercover PDEA agent a plastic sachet suspected to be shabu weighing five grams.

Authorities also seized from Cabasag 28 more plastic sachets suspected to be shabu weighing 300 grams with an estimated value of P3 million, a sling bag and the two P500 bills used as buy-bust money.

Cabasag now faces charges for violation of the Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
