Antipolo City shooting: Driver dead, businesswoman hurt

A tricycle driver was gunned down in a busy road in Antipolo City.

MANILA, Philippines - A gunman shot dead a tricycle driver and seriously wounded a businesswoman on Friday in Antipolo City.

Initial report said that Orly Majadas, 33, died instantly from two gunshot wounds to the body while 38-year-old businesswoman Marinel Gonzaga was hit by a stray bullet to the back of her head.  She is now under observation at the annex of the Antipolo District hospital.

Superintendent Dennis Macalintal, Antipolo City police chief, launched a manhunt against the suspect, who casually walked away after the shooting.

Macalintal said Majadas was on his tricycle around 8:45 a.m. along Olalia Road in Gate 2 of Cogeo in Barangay Sta. Cruz when the gunman accosted the driver.

The suspect drew a gun and fired  twice at Majadas at close range. One of the bullets hit Gonzaga, who was then on board another tricycle.
