2 dead in Quezon shootings

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – A seaman and a businessman were killed in separate shootings in the towns of Candelaria and Tiaong, both in Quezon province on Wednesday.

Fernando de Alday of Barangay Sta. Catalina Norte, Candelaria was installing a bulb on a village lamp post when he was shot by two motorcycle-riding men, according to town police deputy chief Senior Inspector Jesus Erickson Polinag. He died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the body of coconut dealer Abner Hernandez, 44, was found with gunshot wounds in Barangay San Agustin, Tiaong at around 4:30 p.m.

Police are still investigating the killings.
