PDEA nab cultivator, torch P5.6M worth of marijuana plants

MANILA, Philippines - Authorities nabbed a suspected marijuana cultivator during an operation in Cebu, destroying P5.6 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants and seedlings, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Thursday.
PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. said Ryan Dionaldo, 30, will be charged for violation of Section 16 which pertains to the cultivation or culture of marijuana plants.
During operation, anti-narcotics operatives along with members of the local policemen and soldiers seized and destroyed 26,958 fully grown marijuana plants and 1,200 marijuana seedlings in Sitio Law-ang, Barangay Basiao, Badian, Cebu, last September 8.
The total land area of the marijuana plantation is 13,200 square meters, according to PDEA.
