Trader shoots nephew over P25

CABIAO, Nueva Ecija, Philippines – Police arrested a 39-year-old businesswoman for allegedly trying to kill her nephew who failed to pay the P25 that he owed her in this town last Thursday.

Rhodora Balagtas was facing charges of frustrated homicide after she allegedly shot Emerson Sarmiento, 22, according to Senior Superintendent Manuel Cornel, provincial police director.

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Patrick delos Santos said a quarrel broke out between Balagtas and Sarmiento when the victim refused to pay the suspect.

Balagtas reportedy pulled out a gun and shot Sarmiento, hitting him in the left arm.

Sarmiento was rushed to the Duque Medical Clinic for treatment.
