Student shoots grandpa dead

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines  – An 80-year-old man died while his wife was wounded when their grandson accidentally shot them with a homemade gun in San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur Tuesday night.

Town police chief Senior Inspector Nilo Racuma identified the fatality as Jose Natividad and the wounded as Naty, 79, both of Barangay Poblacion West.

Naty told police that her grandson Joseph Natividad Jr., a college student, was playing with a .38 caliber revolver when it went off, hitting Jose in the chest and her in the neck.

Naty was brought to the Northside Doctor’s Hospital in Bantay, Ilocos Sur for treatment.

Police launched a manhunt for Joseph.
