2 dead in Cotabato gun attack

John Unson - Philstar.com

COTABATO CITY, Philippines - Gunmen on Tuesday killed a former policeman and a waiter in a daring attack at a residential area here.

The suspects barged into a boarding house at Barangay Rosary Heights 9 here and killed room occupants Norman Mamasabang and Jeffrey Estacio using handguns.

Mamasabang, 37, was a former policeman under the police office of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) while the 23-year-old Estacio was a waiter in a local restaurant.

The owner of the boarding house, Felipe Plantar, said he has no idea on who the suspects were and their real motive for the attack.

Investigators are convinced an old grudge may have led to the fatal shooting of Mamasabang and Estacio.
