300 families lose homes in Parañaque fire

Dennis Carcamo - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines — Around 300 families were left homeless Thursday afternoon after a fire broke out in a residential area in Parañaque City.

No one was reported injured during the blaze which started around 5 p.m. in Barangay San Juan Martin de Porres, Parañaque.

Firefighters had difficulty in putting out the flames, which quickly spread to neighboring structures made of light materials, due to narrow roads leading to the area.

Firemen managed to put out the blaze around 1 a.m. Friday.

Arson investigators initially suspected that the fire, which destroyed an estimated P300 million worth of property, was caused by an electrical overload in the area.
