LTFRB to give P150K aid to Valisno bus victims

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will be extending P150,000 financial assistance to the families of the four passengers who died in the Valisno bus accident in Quezon City on Wednesday.

LTFRB public information officer Mary Ann Salada said the agency is mandated to give financial assistance to the families of the fatalities in road accidents involving public utility vehicles under its Passenger Personal Accident Insurance Program.

The 18 injured passengers will also get financial aid aside from the assistance that would be given by bus company.

The accident occurred around 6 a.m. along Quirino Highway after a Valisno Express bus smashed into a concrete boundary marker in Quezon City.

The right side of the bus was completely destroyed when it rammed the boundary marker, throwing several passengers out the vehicle.

The LTFRB immediately grounded the entire fleet of the Valisno bus company, stopping the operations of its 62 units.

Aside from the suspension of the bus company's operations, the board also required all of its drivers to undergo road safety training and a drug test.
