MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.2 earthquake traced in Bohol jolted Central Visayas on Tuesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 4:19 a.m. with the epicenter traced 2 kilometers northeast of Cortes in Bohol.
The Bohol quake was felt at Intensity IV in Cortes, Maribojoc and Antequera, Bohol; Intensity III in Tagbilaran City, Loon, Balilihan, San Isidro, Corella, Sikatuna and Loboc also in Bohol; Intensity II in Tubigon, Albuquerque, Bohol; Agao and Sibonga, Cebu while Cebu City experienced the quake at Intensity I.
The tremor which was tectonic in origin had depth of focus of 6 kilometers.
Aside from Bohol quake, Phivolcs also recorded two other quakes on Tuesday morning.
The first quake occurred at 12:40 a.m. in Marihatag, Surigao del Sur while the third tremor was recorded an hour after the Bohol quake, at 5:04 a.m. in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental. Both quakes were magnitude 3.5.
In its advisory, Phivolcs said there was no aftershock expected from all the quakes recorded on Tuesday.
There were also no casualties or damages reported.
