MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City policemen arrested on Saturday three suspected robbers who held up a passenger of a Fairview-bound bus.

QC Police District head Edgardo Tinio identified the suspects as Pablo Castro, 39; Daniel Santos, 19 and Alfred Panglinan, 45; all residents of Sampaloc, Manila.

He said the suspects were arrested by responding Galas policemen who were then conducting a morning roll-call formation at the police station.

Report showed that around 8:30 a.m., robbery victim, Rhea Ramirez, reported to authorities about the heist inside EPJ Bus Transit while traversing northbound along Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

Upon reaching Quezon Avenue, corner Tuayan Street, Barangay Tatalon, the suspects declared holdup and forcibly took the victim’s bag containing P2,000 and her mobile phone.

The victim alighted from the bus and informed the police officers of the incident. The policemen responded immediately upon receiving the report which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

Authorities seized from the suspects two guns and a fan knife which they used in the heist.

The suspects were brought to the Galas police station for further investigation and pending filing of robbery charges.

"The arrest of the bus robbers exemplifies how important is the community’s role to the police especially in the solution of crimes. Our policemen have quickly responded to the robbery incident because of the information provided to us by a concerned citizen. And this is what we want because crime prevention is everybody’s concern," Tinio said.
