LAGUNA, Philippines – Seven persons, including an eight-year-old boy, were injured when a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank exploded in Calamba City in this province Monday.
Businessman Jaime Ferrer, 60; his wife Helen, 58; delivery boy Romeo Suwan; Vince Patrick Gomez, 8; Mark Laurence Aquino, 21; Aure Durian, 45; and cashier Maricris Rosalejos were rushed to the Calamba Medical Center for treatment of burns, Laguna police director Senior Superintendent Florendo Saligao said.
Reports said that Durian bought an LPG tank at a store owned by the Ferrers on Burgos street in Barangay 3.
Suwan was reportedly checking the tank when it exploded.
Saligao expressed belief LPG tank had a leak, which caused the explosion.
He said they would review footage taken by a surveillance camera installed at the shop.
Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries were filed against the shop owners.
