P6-M illegal drugs, firearms seized in Negros
BACOLOD CIT Y, Philippines – At least 700 grams of illegal drugs with an estimated street value of P6 million and several firearms were seized in a sting in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental Saturday.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of suspected drug trafficker Kyle Jareño, 22; his mother Vergie, 52; brother Kendrick, 18, and his 15-year old sister, said Superintendent Antonietto Cañete, chief of the Himamaylan City police.
Cañete said Kyle was arrested after he allegedly sold a sachet of shabu worth P500 to an undercover agent.
Also arrested were Kyle’s’s bodyguard Amado Baylon Jr., 54, and their alleged runner Robert Española Jr., 23.
Reports said the arresting officers seized from the suspect several plastic sachets, a bag and an aluminum tin, all said to contain shabu; drug paraphernalia, a wallet containing P2,182 in cash, marked money and several firearms and ammunition.
Authorities also seized three motorcycles found in the Jareño compound.
Cañete said Kyle and Baylon were in the drug watchlist of the Kabankalan City police. He said before the arrest, the suspects were under surveillance for two weeks.
The police official said the Jareño family members and runners were in the house during the operation.
Operatives received information that Jareño’s father is serving time at the New Bilibid Prison on drug charges.
Jareño’s sister was endorsed to the Department of Social Welfare Development.
The suspects were made to undergo drug tests yesterday.
