John Unson - The Philippine Star

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – A former village chief was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Barangay Rosario here over the weekend.

Anwar Lucas was driving a multicab along  Sinsuat Avenue when he was killed by the suspects who were tailing him.

Lucas, a known supporter of former Cotabato City Mayor Muslimin Sema, died from gunshot wounds.

Sema was the chairman of one of three factions in the Moro National Liberation Front.

City police director Senior Superintendent Rex Anongos said investigators were still trying to identify the gunmen and determine the motive for the killing.

Sema condemned the incident and urged the city police to resolve the case quickly.
