Manny Galvez - The Philippine Star

BALER, Aurora – Authorities seized boxes of fake medicine in a raid on five drug stores here yesterday.

Raided were the branches of Gensan Drug Store in Barangays 1 and Reserva and the New Baler Drug and General Merchandise, the Amco Pharmacy and the Generic Pharmacy, all in Barangay Suklayin, Inspector Robert Prado, officer-in-charge of the municipal police, said.

The raid, led by Inspector Roman Punzalan Jr., stemmed from a complaint filed by United Laboratory Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Manila Judge Rainelda Estacio-Montesa issued a search warrant against the drug store for violating Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

Prado said the seized items bore the brands Tuseran, Decolgen, Medicol, Bioflu, Solmux, Alaxan FR, Biogesic and Dolfenal.

He said the drug stores have been under surveillance before police launched the raid.
