MANILA, Philippines - Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas directed the Philippine National Police to install 15 CCTV cameras in crime-prone areas at the corner of Roxas Boulevard and Edsa to pilot-test the project's  effectiveness in investigating offenses.

Under the CCTV-B project, several CCTVs will be installed in strategic places in each identified crime-prone area such that it is well-covered and all crimes will be recorded from different angles for easy identification of criminals.

While in the process of procurement, Roxas ordered the PNP- National Capital Region Police Office (PNP-NCRPO) to pilot-test the system at the corner of Roxas Boulevard and EDSA.

He said 15 fixed cameras may be installed in different strategic locations in the area, which was chosen because of its high population density.

Roxas has previously ordered the PNP to procure and install a total of 100 CCTVs in crime-prone areas in Metro Manila to aid in crime investigation.

He said priority should be given to the University Belt area in Manila to ensure the safety of students there.

Earlier, Roxas has ordered the installation of CCTVs in all NCRPO police stations under the CCTV-A project.

On the other hand, under the CCTV-C project, CCTVs will be installed in mobile buses which will be deployed in annual crowd-drawer events in Metro Manila.
