2 kids die in Cagayan mishap

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Two children died while five others were injured when a car rear-ended their tricycle in Gonzaga town, Cagayan last Friday.

Justin Clark Agno, 12, and his cousin Kae Kae Agno, 2, died at the scene while their relatives Roel, Maribel, Marvel, Virgilio and Natalie were  taken to a hospital for treatment, case officer Senior Police Officer 4 Renato Flores, said.

Reports said the tricycle driven by Roel fell into a rice field in Barangay Calayan after it was hit at the back by a Toyota Vios driven by Gilbert Campano, an aide of a municipal councilor.

Police arrested Campano, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor during the incident.

Meanwhile, a man died while 13 others were injured when a truck fell into a ravine in Baay-Licuan town, Abra last Friday.

Victorino Mangalem died at the scene while the injured victims were rushed to different hospitals for treatment, Inspector Harold Alagao, town police chief, said.

Truck driver Romuel Ramos said his vehicle hit a pile of gravel in Barangay Nalbuan at around 7 p.m., causing him to lose control of the wheel.

In Pangasinan, a woman died while three others were injured in separate vehicular accidents last Friday.

Victoria Garay, 48, died after she was hit by a cargo van driven by Raynold Lui in Barangay Bayaoas, Aguilar town.

Meanwhile, Japanese Masahiro Okuda, 44, was injured when he was sideswiped by a van driven by Fernando Sinfuego in Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao town.

Okuda was brought to the Region 1 Medical Center for treatment.

In Bugallon, Benjamin Catinguel, 49, was injured when his bicycle was hit by a motorcycle driven by Silvester Castillo, 22.

Castillo was thrown off his motorcycle and was hit by a mini-bus.
