Blackouts to hit parts of the Cordilleras
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – A six-hour power interruption will hit some towns in Benguet tomorrow while Baguio City and Mountain Province will be without power for two hours on Sunday.
Tomorrow’s blackout is due to the scheduled shutdown of the transmission facilities of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP), particularly the Lamut and Dalicno substations of the Benguet Electric Cooperative (Beneco).
The shutdown will paved the way for the repair and installation of a new power transformer and other equipment at the La Trinidad substation and the annual maintenance of the La Trinidad–Philex line, Lilibeth Gaydowen, NGCP spokesperson, said.
On Sunday, the villages of Irisan and Sanitary Camp in Baguio, Atok and Mankayan substations in Benguet and the areas served by the Mountain Province Electric Cooperative Inc. (Mopreco) will have no power from 10 a.m. to noon.
The power interruption is due to the repair and upgrade of the La Trinidad substation.
